JP is our youngest grandson who turned five in September. He and his mom and dad lived with us while they were building their house a year ago. Though they’ve moved into their new house now, we still get to pick him up from preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays and spend the afternoon with him. Next year he’ll be in kindergarten all day. He’s so full of fun and remarkably wise for his years!
For Blogging A to Z, I’ll be sharing some of our many conversations over the last few years. I learned a new word the other day. I hope you enjoy.
Okay, I admit X gave me quite a bit of trouble and I took the easy way out by using eXamine as my X word. JP did tell me he could beat me at XBox-ing which was cute because he didn’t really know what an X Box was, but I like this conversation better.
Me: Guess what Nana found when I was out walking Chief this morning?
JP: I don’t know.
Me: Well, of course you don’t. That’s why I’m going to tell you! There were two hawks on Jamie’s driveway next door and I don’t know if they were fighting or what, but one of them looked like he was hurt.
JP: Are they still there? I want to see them!
Me: No, I called Animal Control to have them come and help the one bird but I guess he wasn’t hurt that badly because by the time I looked again, the birds were gone. I had to call Animal Control back to tell them not to come. Papa went and looked and there was just some blood and feathers.
JP: I want to go look! Papa, can I go look at the feathers? I need to examine them and get a clue to see what kind of bird it was! (Because I might be wrong about the hawk thing, LOL.)
(They go and look and he brings back a feather.)
JP: Nana, look, I think it’s a hawk feather. I want to show Mama when she gets here. I bet she’ll be surprised!
(And when Mom comes to pick him up, he drags her over to show her the blood and feathers on the ground. Just one of many “surprises” moms of boys get as they grow up!)
