#atozchallenge, N is for Nanuq…

Natsiq fought against the howling winds as he searched for Nanuq, the polar bears.  Inuit people revered the powerful creatures, even as they hunted them.  Coming upon a bear and her cub looking so helpless was unexpected.   His people needed to eat.  Her family needed to survive.

He couldn’t shoot.  He lowered his bow and turned away when a soft voice called out.  A beautiful Inuit maiden stood where the bear had been, holding a small boy.  “Please, we are so cold and hungry.  Your kindness has finally broken the spell of our evil stepfather.  However can I thank you?”
