Yay, Yay, it’s Saturday…

Happy December 21…
Another little holiday riddle from Amazon’s Alexa and me!

Which of Santa’s reindeer are dinosaurs afraid of?
Comet!
Me & JP, Conversations with a Four Year Old…
JP is my 4 year old grandson. He and his mom and dad and their English bulldog lived with us while their new house was being built. One of the best things about having them here was spending time talking with him. It makes me hopeful for the next generation. He is so wise and so much fun! You can find all my Me and JP stories here.
Oh, how I’ve missed babysitting my little JP! He turned four at the end of September and started preschool a few weeks before his birthday. And we haven’t had a chance to babysit him because of all my health stuff. But we’re back to our Tuesday and Thursday schedule for now.
Yesterday we picked him up from preschool and went to the park for awhile. He was full of information about school and the good day that he had. He’s learning to count and the colors in Spanish. He can already count to ten in Spanish without any help. I’m pretty sure he will do something totally fabulous with his life, like cure a dread disease or lead the Free World 🙂

Me: Did you see Ella at recess? (Ella is his cousin who goes to the same preschool)
JP: Ella was playing dinosaurs and roaring really loud.
Me: So did you play with her?
JP: I played with Mahir. His name starts with an M. You remember him, right, Nana?
Me: I’m not sure. Did I meet him before?
JP: He’s kind of a little guy.
Me: Ah, well, what did you do with Mahir?
JP: We played dinosaurs and Ella chased us.

JP: Nana, what sound does H make?
Me: It makes a ha sound, like hippos.
JP: Or horse?
Me: That’s right!
JP: Well, Hassini starts with an H.
Me: Yes, I think it does. Is Hassini in your room?
JP: Yes, Nana. She looked pretty today.
Me: She did? What was she wearing?
JP: Her ballet outfit.
Me: She was? Was it pink or purple?
JP: It’s pink. And she put it on all by herself!
###
JP: Nana, want to hear a song?
Me: Sure.
JP: Rain, rain go away, come back another day. It’s the weather.
Me: That was nice, are there more words?
JP: I don’t know. I don’t think so.
Me: Well, maybe when we get home we can look on the computer.
JP: Or we can just ask my Dad.

Monday Musings…
Dinosaurs on a dishtowel, after swimming in the kitchen sink…
That’s just one thing I’m going to miss now that oldest son and daughter-in-law have moved out, taking my little JP and Tank, the English Bulldog, with them.
I’ll also miss saying goodnight every evening…
Sitting down to big meals together…
Just hanging out on the weekends…
A 3-year-old running naked through the hallway after bath time…
Snuggles with JP on the couch before bedtime…
Slobbery bulldog kisses and butt wiggles (no tail to wag!)
And the chance to relive that wonderful time when your children still live at home…
But they need their own space and so do we. Their wonderful new home was finally ready and its only a 15 minute drive away so it’s not like we won’t see them often. I’ll still babysit twice a week. And even though I’ll be sad for awhile, I wouldn’t have missed our time together for the world!
