Yay, Yay, it’s Saturday…

Me & JP, R is for Restaurant…

JP is our youngest grandson who turned five in September. IMG_1763He and his mom and dad lived with us while they were building their house a year ago. Though they’ve moved into their new house now, we still get to pick him up from preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays and spend the afternoon with him. Next year he’ll be in kindergarten all day. He’s so full of fun and remarkably wise for his years!

For Blogging A to Z, I’ll be sharing some of our many conversations over the last few years.  I hope you enjoy.

My grandson loves to play restaurant and we have plastic dishes and cups and glasses and he has a pot and spoons to pretend cook with, sometimes even pterodactyl!  But one evening when his mom and dad were over with him he decided that all the grown ups should sit around the table and he would take our orders and bring us our meals, just like all the restaurants he’s been to… maybe too many!

JP:  And what would you like to eat, ma’am?

Me:  I would like a cheeseburger, I think.

(He looks to Mom for confirmation and she whispers, “Cow.”)

JP:  Papa, what would you like to eat?

Papa:  I will have chicken.

JP:  Can you share with Mom cause I only have one chicken?

Papa:  Oh, sure, that’s fine.

(I didn’t realize at first, but it’s a carve your own dinner, because this is what we got, his Fischer Price farm animals.  And he presented each meal with a flourish.)

JP:  Well, good luck!  What?  (Hiding smiles, Mom whispers something in his ear.) Oh, I mean, enjoy!

I would not wish to return to a restaurant where they brought my food and said, “good luck,” LOL!
