Drifting Apart…

qfeqgc9x3fw-redd-angelo

Lately the romance, the tingles, the sighs

Seem just out of reach of everyday life

A hug and a pat and a peck on the cheek,

No comfort at all as seen through her eyes…

She misses the spark, the crackle, the zing

Could a couple sustain it forever and ever?

Polite conversation is becoming the norm

Desperate, she searches for signs of a fling…

Always exhausted, he says it’s his job

The travel, the calls, his excessive hours

Supposedly working till he sneaks into bed

She turns to her pillow to muffle her sobs…

She weeps for lost kisses, the desire in his eyes

Nights spent wrapped in each other’s arms

With nothing but moonlight touching their bodies

When she felt like a beauty whatever her size…

Now she’s polished and toned, ears filled with his lies

She glances at him in his traitorous slumber

He mumbles a name that isn’t her own

As she brushes away tears and plots his demise…

This is a reworked post from early last year.  It was going to be romantic because it’s almost Valentine’s Day, but it didn’t come out that way! 😀

Hope…

Some days she could fill a journal

About Pierre, her heartache infernal

But he was so sorrowful each time he’d stray

And he’d adore her til she said she would stay

Quel dommage!*   Hope springs eternal…

*What a shame

(For some reason I felt the need for this to be set in France and use French, which I don’t speak) 🙂  C’est la vie…

There’s Only One Question..

d42d03b9434557c2f7196035798e4e94

He’s still out of town, the excuses are endless

She comes home tonight to a house gone sad

The calls have dwindled, his work’s so important

He’s making it clear that their magic’s long fled…

~

He served up papers, no, they can’t work things out

Says she’s stupid and clumsy and holding him back

He’s found someone better, a beauty with money

And breeding and class and whatever she lacks…

~

She glimpses her face in the mirror on the wall

She’s older, no wiser, but calm and resigned

To finish what he started when he broke their vows

She hardly finds herself in the reflection at all…

~

She’s weary of trying and feeling so worthless

He’s forced her to take a hard look at their life

If he thinks she’ll accept it, he’s sadly mistaken

There’s only one question.  A gun or a knife?

A New Routine…

Lately the romance, the tingles, the sighs

Seem just out of reach of everyday life

A hug and a pat and a peck on the cheek,

No comfort at all for the ache of her thighs…

She misses the spark, the crackle, the zing

But who can sustain it forever and ever

Drabness and routine are becoming the norm

Desperate, she searches for signs of a fling…

Always exhausted, he says it’s his job

The travel, the calls, his excessive hours

Constantly working till he sneaks into bed

She turns to her pillow to muffle her sobs…

She weeps for lost kisses, the desire in his eyes

Nights spent wrapped in each other’s arms

With nothing but moonlight touching their bodies

When she felt like a beauty whatever her size…

Now polished and toned, ears filled with his lies

She glances at him in his traitorous slumber

He mumbles a name that isn’t her own

As she brushes away tears and plots his demise…

Goodbye Earl by The Dixie Chicks, not quite the same situation, but you get the idea!
