I need some help from my East Coast friends or anyone who is familiar with Boston, MA. Hubby and I are cruising with my sis and DBIL from Quebec City to Boston the last week of September and we’re staying an extra day before heading home in time for JP’s birthday party.
We’d like to stay at a hotel near wherever it is that the ship docks and close to either some sightseeing or the airport so we don’t have to take cabs several times. We’d also prefer not to spend a fortune, but I’ve heard the city can be pricey!
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate the help. Thanks!

If you like art museums, you must visit the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum. That’s where all the priceless works of art were stolen from in 1993 – it’s the heist that inspired Three Empty Frames!!! 😃

We only have a day in Quebec City. We fly there, stay on the ship overnight and depart the next day. I’ve never been to Canada so I’m excited. Just renewed our passports too!

Well… Maybe Rob will be able to help… but as I live about 10-15 minutes from the city, I have never stayed in any hotels in the area. Oh… except once — my sister was in Boston on business so I stayed with her at the Four Seasons. That was fancy… and it was fun. But I don’t think that helps you (very pricey… like $600-700/night)… I’m not sure if it’s near what you’d want it to be near anyway.
Any particular sights you’d want to be near? Honestly, my sister in NYC might be more helpful than I am… and I can ask her. If it were me, I’d probably want to stay in or near the North End so I could eat the best Italian food the whole time. 🙂
Freedom Trail… Quincy Market (all kinds of foods there in a giant food hall… hm… apparently I travel for food… lol)… Museum of Fine Arts… Boston Common… theater district… Newbury Street… Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. Those are some of the popular sites. Then, outside of Boston, there’s Harvard Square in Cambridge… I haven’t been there in a looong time… no idea how much it may have changed. And Salem… you know, witches and all.
Anyway… this does not help you at all…. LOL

No, that does help! My sister has been several times when they lived in RI. I think we want to stay near the sights and hopefully not have to take cabs or uber a lot then find a hotel that has a shuttle to the airport. My pts are good for Westin, Sheraton, Marriott. There are so many hotels! Sadly we only have one day there so well hit the highlights!

You can always use the T (subway). 😀 Oh, and I’m sure most hotels have airport shuttles. Also, totally irrelevant to this conversation… but I grew up in RI… 🙂

Really? My old neighbor, the one whose dog used to jump over the fence to play with my dogs, was from there and moved back east a few years ago. I still miss her calling everything wicked! I still Facebook with her so I can watch the kiddos grow up

I miss it there. I’m too close to the city now… RI was so much more relaxing. I’d love to move back… But, you know, the husband and his job… kids… money… etc. It’s not going to happen……

I don’t even necessarily care about warmer (although an oceanside home would be lovely)… just more laid back. I’m convinced that living here contributes to my anxiety.

Have fun in the Fall going to Boston! My grandparents settled on Cape Ann, in Rockport, Mass and I spent my 16th summer working there. I love Cape Ann better than Cape Cod, so beautiful! ⛵

I hope it’s later in September, leaf peeping season…Me and the husband went out there a couple of years ago. I’m thinking we stayed by the docks and it could’ve been a Mariott. Absolutely love Boston. Hopefully we will end up in Maine!!! We love it up there. I think we are going back to Bar Harbor this year, Y A Y..

Air bnb has many affordable options. Also, if you make it to china town then you must check out the Chinese soupy dumpling restaurant. It’s fantastic and literally just called Gourmet dumpling house.
