Mother of Dragons…
Nothing says Christmas like dragons, especially from Game of Thrones, right? Well, it is red after all!
My very talented friend sonofabeach and his wife (she’s the artist, he’s the metal worker) create one of a kind artwork like this and I commissioned them to do this as a surprise for my son and his wife for Christmas. If you are interested in having something made, you can go to his website and look around. He’s also a very talented photographer and if you drop him a line in the comments section, he will get back to you quickly!
As you can see from the picture, my son already has some pint glass sets and they love the Game of Thrones show. Those are bottle caps that form the scales on the dragon and they really do look like scales! My son was so surprised and I know he will put it up in his rec room in the bar area, although it might make a pretty cool table covered in glass and with legs attached. Just sayin’.
Last year, T and his wife made these adorable seahorses for my sunroom wall. You can request colors or bottle cap brands and they will do their best to accommodate you!
Monday Musings on Christmas…
If you celebrate Christmas, do you open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? We’ve always done our big celebration on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is sometimes eating out or going to the movies or just relaxing at home and enjoying family. Hope you have a wonderful Monday and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my dear friends and family!
Me and JP, Conversations with a 5-Year-Old…
JP is our youngest grandson who turned five in September. He and his mom and dad lived with us while they were building their house a year ago. Though they’ve moved into their new house now, we still get to pick him up from preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays and spend the afternoon with him. Next year he’ll be in kindergarten all day. He’s so full of fun and remarkably wise for his years! This is our conversation in the car on the way home from preschool on Thursday…
Me: How are you feeling today? (He’s been sick and missed two days of school earlier this week.)
JP: I feel fine. Do you know what Dr. Pera said?
Me: No, what did he say?
JP: He said don’t drink out of somebody else’s glass, don’t eat somebody else’s food and don’t kiss any girls!
Me: Well, you haven’t been kissing any girls, right?
JP: No! (Giggles)
Me: I guess you can’t kiss your aunts or cousins on Christmas then.
JP: Like Madison?
Me: Right. And not Eileen either.
JP: And not you, Nana.
Me: Oh, I think you could kiss me on the cheek.
JP: Nope. Dr. Pera said no girls.

Me: So how was your day at school today?
JP: Good. It’s the first day of winter.
Me: Is it? Is it December 21 today?
JP: Nana, do you have a memory problem?
Me: <sigh>
