Okay, those are my excuses for not posting much lately. I go outside into the sunshine and I’m not motivated to write. I’m motivated to garden and pull weeds and maybe wash the windows or paint the little piece of trim above the front door. And go to the gym now that I’m finally getting over this frustrating sinusitis, the second time since chemo. Apparently my immune system will take some time to recover. I’m trying to eat well and work out regularly. But not write…
My fiction piece The Reunion is starting to bore even me, so I can imagine how you felt if you read it. It’s on hold for now. I’ve been reading a lot lately and some is for NetGalley, so I’ll need to post some reviews soon. If I get motivated….
My hair gets crazier every day. It’s almost two inches long now and thicker and white with some dark mixed in, especially in the back. And curly, like Mary’s little lamb curly. And what do people say to me who haven’t seen me for awhile? Oh, your hair is SO white or SO thick or SO curly!
No, really? I say this with a shocked look on my face and touch my head. My God, what happened? You know, we don’t have any mirrors at the house! Well, that’s what I’d like to say anyway. Then they tell me how cute it is. Uh, huh, sure. But no one is rushing out to get a really bad perm like mine. Or stop coloring and highlighting. The only good thing is the speed with which I can shower and get out the door. Blow drying doesn’t make a difference at all, so air dry it is…
But enough whining about me. 😉 How are you all?
Here’s to that point when your hair tips over from “crazy-aah” to “sorta crazy, but I can work with it”… And beyond! Hugs ♥

Yep. I’m thinking I’ll see if the girl who cuts my hair can do anything with it, even a little trim to make it not so weird. That’s my beauty goal now, not so weird! 😉

I have a similar life goals, but somehow the weirdness keeps embracing me… Or is it the other way around? 😀

Nope, that weirdness finds you no matter what! 🙂

I’ve had friends who’ve gone through chemo and had the same thing happen to their hair. I can’t remember if it went back to normal after awhile (back to straight) or if I just got used to it. I’m going to check it out next time I see them. So happy that you’re working on a healthy lifestyle; probably more important than writing right now.

From what I’ve read, most people have their original hair back in 18 months to three years. It’s been so long since I started coloring, that I don’t know what my original color would be! But some people keep the curls and waves from what I hear.

Enjoy! There are more I portNt things then writing! Did I just say that? Shh. Your hair is wonderful and gardening, gym time being out in the sun are wonderful too! All the best.

No helpful hints?? With it being white and gray, I at least need it to not make me look older!

Well, I confess I color mine. I went completely silver after my son’s accident and I wasn’t ready. I’ve kept very short hair for the majority of my life because I didn’t want to deal with the curl. But, your pal got a wild hair in January and stopped cutting it. Now it’s almost to my shoulders and I’m just letting it go the way it’s wants to behind my funky headbands.
When we first moved west, I let it go completely silver for about a year but I never liked it, so I’ll probably be the one coloring my hair in the nursing home. It’s the one thing I do for myself to kick aging in the butt a little. Everything else can go the way of the elderly as far as I’m concerned.

Mine is almost two inches long and what they call virgin hair after chemo. Who knew you could get it back? Just kidding. I don’t know about the color yet, but you’re supposed to leave it alone for about a year as it’s pretty fragile. So I can deal. I want to see how it looks as it grows and maybe I’ll love it, who knows? My mom colored her hair up until she passed away at nearly 87 so maybe that’s why the white and gray freaks me out — never saw it on anyone but my gramma and she always had the little old lady pincurled hair! Told hubby I either need my old color back or all new clothes to go with my new color. Either way is going to be expensive!

Sounds like you’re doing the things you want to do, instead of the things you feel you “should” do. That’s perfect! And perfect for summer. 🙂

I was pulling weeds a couple of days ago and really enjoying it too! Have a great weekend and maybe find a good festival to tell us about🎡💃🏻

I missed Strawberry Festival in Long Grove this weekend. Yum. Being outside when it’s not too hot is wonderful, isn’t it? And if I can’t write, then at least creating something is good, whether it’s a garden or a room or dinner!

Okay so maybe you’re tired of hearing it, but I LOVE your hair! And you’re wrong about people not dying their hair — currently it’s a trend at the high school I work at. It’s not unusual to see girls and boys with various shades of gray or white.
I’d suggest you move here for the time being, but sounds like your summer temps are much better! (115 today!)

If I was 18 or 20, this might be cool. But it just makes me feel older. Which I am, of course, but I don’t want to feel it! I’m so sorry to hear about your temps. I did see in the news where the West was setting horrible records. That is just crazy!

Hey, just roll with it! If you’re feeling good enough to pull weeds, garden, etc, then that’s a fantastic thing. You know, you should go really all-in and dye it pink or purple! Really shock people, but rock it just the same. 😃

I do feel pretty good most of the time. I saw pale blue hair color — that would be cool, right? Or purple. Maybe I’ll just get it trimmed! 😉

Okay, I was a bit shocked at your ‘rant’ even though I know your heart is as big as the world, but that last line of yours had me grinning ear to ear. 😀
All is good with the insides of your head, Dee, so forget about the outsides for a while. It go sort itself out in its own sweet time. 🙂

It truly was a rant. Why did you find it shocking? Am I that nice that you can’t picture me ranting, LOL? Something is messing with my creativity and I hate being sick. The hair really is what it is, I can’t change it right now if I wanted to. It truly is like waking up in a different body and face and having to live with it.

Well when you put it like that, I can totally understand the need for a rant! I’d be pissed too!! 🙂 Here’s to waking up looking like Selena Gomez (or, in my case, just waking up looking at Selena Gomez). Yeah – I think she’s hot. She’s not as cute as you are when you’re angry though. 😉

Oh, gosh, no, Selena Gomez? Way too young for both of us. I wouldn’t mind waking up looking at, say, Pierce Brosnan. I am not cute when I’m angry! *secretly smiling at the compliment while outwardly stomping my foot*

Hahaha – you’re lovely for me – that’s all that matters. Talking of Pierce Brosnan = he played Bond in a movie called Goldeneye. Have a look at this clip:
That dam is one of the places I went to in Switzerland and I referred to in this post: https://robertcday.wordpress.com/2017/06/16/things-the-swiss-alps-taught-me/ when I said that the tour guide told us many people die there.
And yeah, you’re perfectly correct – Selena Gomez is waaay too young for us (but I still prefer her to Mr Brosnan). 😉

Ha, I would guess you would prefer the X chromosomes! I loved Brosnan as Remington Steele. Do you remember that old show?

I don’t actually. Perhaps those were the years that I joined a weird sex cult and stopped watching TV.

Dee, you look great! And I think it’s wonderful that you’re gardening and working out and all of it. I force myself to write when I can’t just to be past it but I always end up deleting what I wrote. So… not sure how efficient that it! Lol! Anyway do it your way and in your own time! Love!

Thanks, Meg! I feel like my creativity is just gone right now. Maybe I’ll write something and see where it goes if I can…

It’ll come back. I keep a notebook for bits and pieces that I think I can turn into something. Even a phrase or fragment of dialogue. And I go back through it when I’m not feeling creative. It is often just the spark I need! So even if you aren’t working on one thing, you’re still collecting ideas!

Good idea. I’ve never done that and I need to start. Today, as a matter of fact. I have a bunch of spiral notebooks — still can’t resist buying them in the back to school sales!
