#atozchallenge, L is for Lottery…

Landon had just left for his 12-hour shift, so his call surprised Brittany.  “What’s wrong?” she whispered, not wanting to wake the month-old twins.  “Nothing, babe,” he assured her excitedly, asking if she could check Saturday’s lottery numbers online.  “The ticket was in my coat pocket.  I forgot about it until I saw the winner was sold at our Shell station.”

He read her the numbers on their ticket.   “My, God, Lan, they’re there.  Only one winner — $3.75 million!”  She started laughing.  “Come home!  Can you tell them you don’t feel well?”

“I don’t,” he joked.  “My heart’s pounding.  We’re freakin’ millionaires!”

My theme this year is 100 word fiction.  (So don’t count this line…)

  8. A classic answer: “I don’t.”

Nope, he wouldn’t be lying at all if he told them he didn’t feel well.

  9. That was a fun read, really enjoyed it. In all my enthusiasm for the happy, young couple, I forgot to mention that. Which doubly shows what a great read it was!

  10. Woo hoo! I won a meager $400 once and you’d think I won millions for how excited I was… lol.
