Once upon a time a lonely little fairy named Faelynn stumbled across woods filled with forget-me-nots, foxglove and ferns, sweet reminders of home. Everything a sprite could want — except a friend.
Soon a human girl child with bouncing braids and bubbling giggles set out a tiny cottage and furniture that was, well, fairy sized! Sarah, as the girl’s mother called her, played near the cottage every day and she was all alone, too. Finally Faelynn grew brave enough to show herself. Eyes widening, Sarah stared and Faelynn stared back. “Want to be my friend?” And just like that, they were…

My theme this year is 100 word fiction. (So, no, don’t count this line!)
Ah, if only it was that easy as adults. Lovely.

I feel wonderful, thanks for asking. One little surgery left, probably in June and then I’ll be done. How are things with you!

I’m so glad to hear that. I’m doing well, settling into a new job. Challenging times but coping (yet very glad it’s the weekend). 🙂

I love this! It reminds me of ‘Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue’… Oh man, I watch a lot of kids movies! The girl in it has braids! lol

I don’t know it, we have way more boys in my family, but it sounds very cute and well written!

Hey! I love to find new fiction writers. I tried flash fiction in 2015 when I had a father/daughter team supply prompt/photos every day of April for a fresh flash post. This year I am trying a different approach based on my experience in NaNoWriMo2016.
I am laying out the plot of a new historical fiction novel over my 26 A to Z posts. I’d love to have you stop by.
The Steel Horse Saviors is a story about three civil war veterans who head west in 1866 with their Steam Locomotive to seek their fortune. They encounter a beautiful redhead trying desperately to save her family business that threatens to complicate their plan to escape their past.

I was expecting something rather more sinister than that, but still – friends are good. 🙂
Now I wonder where I can find me some of those?
Chin up, Dee – the day will be done soon.

You thought my story about friends would be sinister? I’m trying to do a mix of romance, horror, mystery, etc. Maybe you’ll like letter G better 😉

Well, yeah – when you put it like that, perhaps I need to change my definition of friendship.
Hmm.
Looking forward to G. 😉

Yes. I’m trying out a bunch of different styles of writing. This was supposed to be kind of a children’s story. Maybe I failed…

Ah, well then, if it’s a children’s story, it definitely needs to be more sinister. There’s nothing so sinister as a friend when you’re a child. 🙂

This was so sweet! It could certainly be the start of a children’s book. I love your alliteration!

Thanks, Linda, I wanted to experiment with children’s stories. I’ve never written any…

Faires and friends are the best “F” words ever!! Although the non-swear word for the “F” word is a fun activity. Just saying but no details. . . Trying to get you chuckling, Dee. 🙂
