My friend Dr. Meg at Meg Sorick, Writer, tagged me for ‘a song a day’ challenge. Meg writes and draws and bakes. And she’s a chiropractor — can you say overachiever?? But seriously, you need to check out her blog if you don’t follow already. It’s wonderful.
The rules are to post the lyrics of a favorite song five days in a row, explain what they mean to you (if you like) and add the video if available. Even my kids tell me I have the musical taste of a preteen girl, so sorry about that 😀 You are then supposed to nominate two other bloggers who can participate if they wish and my choices are:
Jessica from Unmeasured Journeys
Steph at Bold Blind Beauty
My third song choice is One Moment in Time by Whitney Houston. It was the theme for the 1988 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Seoul, Korea. Really, words for all of us to live by. And hearing Whitney’s glorious voice is always a joy!
Each day I live
I want to be
A day to give
The best of me
I’m only one
But not alone
My finest day
Is yet unknown
I broke my heart
Fought every gain
To taste the sweet
I face the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains
I want one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity
I’ve lived to be
The very best
I want it all
No time for less
I’ve laid the plans
Now lay the chance
Here in my hands
Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity
You’re a winner for a lifetime
If you seize that one moment in time
Make it shine
Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will be
I will be
I will be free
I will be
I will be free
Good one! She definitely had a fantastic voice. 😃

This song always reminds me of Special Olympics, although I couldn’t see that it was used as their theme. But it would be perfect.

I volunteered with Special Olympics in high school. It was an amazing time and those kids were fantastic! 😃

Absolutely, T. My Dave was involved some, but his is more of a physical disability so playing sports is not really his thing!

I hadn’t heard or thought about that song in years! What a fantastic choice. Whitney had such a beautiful, yet powerful, voice.

This is a terrible challenge, if I may say so. Every day I listen to songs and then they are stuck in my mind and I hum the rest of the day and sound like a broken record. 🙂
LOVE the song! LOVE it! Good choice.

This song inspires the listener to believe in herself, and to that she can achieve anything. One moment at a time. Love it.
