Ideas??

mistake-1966448_1280

I’ve been mostly using Pixabay for free, unrestricted images to use on my blog.  Any ideas for other good sources of pictures or artwork? (You’ve seen my skill with a camera, so you know I’m limited in using my own work 😉 )  All ideas are welcome…

  1. Copyrights are a necessary evil and are generally taken too far. I learned enough about it to teach sixth graders how to be within the law and enough to be disgusted by the money grubbing. Our initial copyright laws were set up to encourage more creativity by having time limits on a copyright, not having everyone look over their should all the time. Rant over. Here’s a source with some good photographs that are truly free: ABSFreePic.com.

  3. Another place you can try if you want pictures is the “Commons” section in Flickr. The pictures are mostly very old, but sometimes there are quirky ones that come in useful.

  7. Keep trying to take some of your own shots, too. Take a photo from a strange angle. Use the filters on your phone to make it grey scale. That can turn an ordinary photo into something interesting. 🙂

    1. Good ideas. I may try to do some more of my own. I have a nice little Canon something, too, I just forget to bring it with lots of times! But smart phones have huge capabilities nowadays

      1. Yep, I don’t even bother with my camera when we travel. And all the filters are built right in!

  9. I don’t, but I wouldn’t care if you used any of my pics, if they’d even be something you’d be interested in. Feel free. 😃

  11. I use many images/paintings from artists ie; Steve Hanks, Fabian Perez, etc. One is welcome to use their art with credit acknowledged. I have not used pixabay but must look into that. 🙂

  14. The photos you use don’t have to be excellent! I use bing images – some of them are free and some are copyrighted so you have to be careful but so far so good.

  15. Keep taking your own (fabulous) photos. I find that nine times out of ten that is quicker and of course it’s fun. Now, you know this but… two quick ways to find a much wider pool of photos with a creative commons licence than those in the Wikimedia and Flickr Commons collections. Google > Images >Settings > Advanced search >Usage rights. Similarly on Flickr > Search photos then open up Any Licence > All creative commons. Flickr Advanced search is great too. I am teaching grandma to suck eggs, but it may help others.

  18. I just take pictures everywhere I go and I don’t think it is as challenging as someone else suggested to keep on trying, dear. You have a good eye which is shown by how you have illustrated your stories by finding just the right match! 🙂 hugs xo
