RIP Tank…

The one sad note on our Hawaiian vacation happened early Wednesday morning while we were in Maui when my kids got a panicked call from their house sitter that their English bulldog, Tank, had passed away.  (Yep, JP’s dog!)

He was a sweet and silly bully who wasn’t obviously ill when we all left on vacation, but he was 8 years old and bulldogs are not generally a long-lived breed.  The lifespan is about 7 to 10 years and he was 8 back in November.

They are all missing him, as are we, but they gave him a wonderful life and we were honored to be his family all these years…

      1. Bulldogs are some of my favorites, so this is especially sad. ): I hope he enjoys it over the rainbow bridge and gets many pats!

    1. He was kind of subdued yesterday but we always said he could share our dogs and he loves them. Only problem is they will be 14 this year, so not sure how much time we have with them…

  4. It’s hard to lose a 4-legged family member. We have two older dogs and I know the days we have left are very limited. I am sorry to read about your fury friend.

    1. Thank you! Both of mine will be 14 this year so I would have been less shocked to hear it was one of them. Made me realize I need a definite plan in place for when we travel…

  16. Losing a canine child is one of the hardest things I have had to face. We have had six dogs over the years and each one was a lover in their own right. Losing them is like losing a member of the family. But, time does heal the wound and we now have two min pins. Don’t really want to think about that point in the future right now. In any event, I’m sorry about your family’s loss.

    1. Thanks, Linda. Yeah, my sister lost her of last fall, and my two will be 14 this year, God willing. It is such a tough thing to go through but still worth it for that unconditional love you get from pets ❤

      1. The last of our greyhounds was 14 when she died and we said never more … too hard to part … that lasted for 6 months. When you have received that unbelievable love from an animal, you just can’t do without it, even though the ending is difficult. It is truly worth it!

      2. Yeah, he and DDIL are pretty sad. But since JP is four, they decided to wait awhile before they get another dog. Btw, how is your book coming?

      3. I understand. We always have to wait awhile when we lose a dog, too.

It’s coming right along. Almost done. 🙂 How are you feeling? Treatments are done, right? No more chemo?

      4. Feeling pretty good. Chemo is done, not so tired, my hair is growing a tiny bit! I see the plastic surgeon in a few weeks to set up final reconstructive surgery…
