TMI Thursday, No Ducks in a Row…

fb_img_1475078311944

I’m feeling a little discombobulated today cause I found I have a hopefully minor setback in my healing from the mastectomy.  I have to have a surgery tomorrow morning to reopen the surgical site, remove a hematoma and possibly exchange the implant that is there.  My understanding is a hematoma is a pocket filled with blood that develops occasionally, possibly because of my Factor V Leiden problem and the need to go on and off the blood thinners I normally take.

I should be able to go home tomorrow and they do not think I’ll need to have the wound vac back, just the drainage tubes.  So I think it will just be a bump in the road and a pain in the boob! Probably see you more next week…

  2. I’m sorry your ducks are not in a row. Hang in there through this next hurdle. I’ll be praying for you through this next surgery–such a bummer! I know you did everything you should have, but sometimes our bodies do not cooperate. Hematoma, be gone! Diane, stay strong!

    1. Thank you, Linda. I had been starting to think I’d done something, but no one was sure when to start blood thinners back and docs are thinking it was just maybe too soon. Why do we want to blame ourselves first? 🙂 I’ll be very cautious this time, too!

Wishing God showers you with complete and swift healing and sends a nice body wash too!! 😉 xo

    1. Thanks, Deb, you’ve been so wonderful with sending all your prayers! Unfortunately I will have to go back for at least one more surgery in about two months cause they replaced the implant with an expander to control the bleeding issue and then will have to put in a saline one again. But no big deal in the scheme of things! How’s your mom doing?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Oh you are so welcome! Well I’m going to shout that this is the final procedure and that all goes perfectly! My mom is actually doing really great. Her leg was really bothering her a few weeks ago and she thought she was going to have to have her hip replaced again. The Dr. sent her for a CAT scan as he was concerned the stem of her hip replacement had loosened and that was what was causing her such pain. The scan came back fine. Ironically she had purchased a new mattress, like a tempurpedic, as that is what I have here that she slept on and really liked. Well apparently it was the mattress that was causing her the pain, because she tried sleeping on her previous mattress which they fortunately had kept, and her pain went away!! So she’s thrilled and is getting around better and better every day!! Thanks for asking. She is however very disappointed that Texas Hold Em (an online free poker game) has increased the ante requirements and now she has to learn how to play it all over again!! She loves to play cards and poker and she has one $1.8 million dollars on this Texas Hold Em site…if only it were real money!!! 😉 Do something special for yourself today, maybe go online and buy a lavender body wash to be at the ready for when you can shower again!! Big Hugs!! xo

      2. Glad mom is doing well! Funny, we have a sleep number and I had to increase the pressure on my side in order to sleep better lately and get out of bed easier. It was bothering my back and hip. Go MOM, I don’t even know how to play Texas Hold Em — but cards is a great activity for keeping the mind sharp. My mom played pinochle online for a long time!

      3. It’s amazing how important the support of our bed can be. My Dad could sleep on a bed of nails like a baby!! He says it comes from being in the army. Oh my Mom and her whole family played cards all the time. I remember growing up listening to them all yelling (in a good way) at each other…they played pinochle too!! 🙂
