On my way out the door to see Pat, my trainer. She has been through a hip replacement and had a malignant tumor on her foot removed, works out regularly and is a personal trainer! She is one of the most positive people I know and hanging out with her is a pain (in my arms, my knees, etc.) but never a chore! 😉
Today we’re working on back, upper body and arm strength because I won’t be able to use my right arm and side for a little bit after the surgery.
As to the surgery, good news, I think. My interventional radiologist and hemotologist have decided I don’t need the filter placed after all since I had another ultrasound that showed no blood clots. So apparently my chance of developing a clot after surgery will be no greater than anyone else. And because I’m only having a mastectomy on one side, they can restart a low dose of blood thinner fairly soon after surgery. And they could do an ultrasound and place a filter if I develop blood clot symptoms while in the hospital following surgery. So, yay…
I would not be lying to say I’m actually doing fine, just waiting for the surgery date to get here. And I also wouldn’t be lying to say that sometimes I’m scared witless just waiting for the surgery date to get here!
Photo of Pat M. is my own
I’m sure that the surgery date is looming large. It would be for all of us. The important part is that you’re going to be fine. And you have hordes of friends here, including me, who will be here for you. 💗💗💗💗💗

I understand about the being scared witless and being impatient for the surgery date to finally get here! I also understand that you are doing just fine. I am so glad you are still working out and that you have a positive relationship with your trainer! All good things. Keep fighting lady. Keep fighting. ❤

Thanks, Renee. I’m trying! Do u mind my asking what your number was from the genetic test? I’m going to have it (they said insurance would cover it, but I guess not always, hmm) And I just know I’ll be in the middle where I’ll have to decide about chemo…
LikeLiked by 1 person
I have brca2…. I can look the gene location # up if you need it. I had mine done after I started chemo. took about 3 weeks to get the result. It meant that I was a candidate for breast cancer (duh) ovarian cancer and skin cancer..which I already struggle with.. so I am glad I had the bi0lateral oophorectomy done as a preventative. oh wait you are asking about the chemo gene test!!!! ha ha I was right on the border 18. BUT I have a huge family history of cancer…and as I mentioned above brca2 positive.. My theory was: I should fight with all I can now while I am young and stronger because if I had recurrence I would kick myself for NOT doing chemo. ❤ anytime you want to chat I am here. ❤

Thanks for sharing. I think you made a wise choice. I have virtually no family history other than my mom who had breast cancer late in life so they did not recommend genetic testing. I will have the chemo gene test done and I’ll choose chemo if I’m borderline at all. I agree, why wouldn’t I, right? Thanks, Renee, for your support. You are amazing and I feel lucky to count you as a friend xoxo

Yes, but my writing seems stuck. I think I’ll just wait it out and do other things…
LikeLiked by 1 person
I can’t possibly know how you feel, but I can say that when I’m faced with something which feels emotionally overwhelming, I tell myself that writing should be able to help, like I have this expectation that it should. And then that becomes another thing to worry about! Which makes me even more stuck, lol. I say go with the flow! Write if and when the bug strikes you. Do anything that feels good, in that particular moment! Maybe that’s lofty thinking, but you deserve it.

Oh, thanks, I feel fine right now. Keeping busy is the only thing keeping me sane and the insanity will probably creep up on me soon, lol. I try to write and I can’t even come up with ideas right now! I’ll get through it and then I’ll be sorry I made such a big deal about it! xoxo

My husband left his horribly stressful job and got a new one. Our old insurance was excellent. Our new insurance is awful! $600 a month and we have to pay $5500 out of pocket before they pick up 70/30! Luckily, all my organs are behaving! 🙂

It is so great that you have had Pat to give you pep talks, motivation and her own health challenges to inspire you. The mastectomy is a scary proposition if you weren’t so well informed and had such detailed steps given you to help prepare you so you may feel confident and positive, Dee. So glad they are giving you a pass on the filter “thingy.”
Hugs, rainbows and warm thoughts sent your way, even if you don’t see me here, they will be ongoing. Do we have a date set? I may be too speedy a reader to digest the actual date. . . ❤
