I am relieved and just a little apprehensive that surgery has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 20. It has taken a little time to coordinate the doctors’ schedules and OR availability. It will be a right sided skin saving mastectomy followed by immediate reconstruction. I know, who looks forward to that? But I need to get this taken care of and I feel good about my choice.
I had another venous duplex ultrasound of the lower extremities yesterday and it’s clear of any clots. So I may not need the filter placed after all. The interventional radiologist will discuss the results with my hemotologist and they will come to a decision. There’s time to do an outpatient surgery before the 20th if they decide I need to have the filter.
And just an aside, both my breast surgeon and plastic surgeon are gorgeous! A little eye candy never hurts, right? 😉
Am glad you don’t have to wait too much longer for the op (plus, you know, eye candy). Hugs xxx

I am also glad that you got an early surgery date. The waiting is the hardest part, well, one of the hardest.

Yeah, it’s a little tough. Won’t know if I’ll need chemo until they get the genetic testing of the tumor back, so probably two or three weeks.

Yes, glad you don’t have to wait too long. And good news about not needing the filter! Thank goodness for eye candy! As always, sending love!

It’s a scary thought, I’m sure. But, you’re making the right choice. Take it! You’re breast is not more valuable than your life. 😊

Exactly, even when I was younger I don’t think it would have been a difficult choice for me to make 🙂

I don’t blame you. And the reconstruction nowadays is great. My wife’s best friend did it and they looked fabulous. She said they were like they were when she was 18. 😃

❤ ❤ ❤ your attitude! Eye candy absolutely doesn't hurt. A few years back when I arrived at the locak surgical center (not my young, handsome surgeon's usual place, but a branch of the organization), the nurses were all excited, primping and preening (not kidding) because he was coming. I never received better care than that day. LOL

Isn’t that the truth!? I really like these guys and I had a lumpectomy for a benign condition 3 years ago with the same doc, same hospital and the nursing care was fantastic!

Yes, and you know I’m teasing, I’d much rather good than handsome. But if you get both, it’s just a plus 😀

And yeah, I doesn’t hurt to have good looking MDs. Sigh. My urologist is tall, dark, and ugly. And he has the longest damn fingers. I hate it when he says its time for my prostate exam. Ouch.

I’m sure it feels good to have this scheduled.
Random story of hot docs: when I got my wisdom teeth out, my doctor was really cute. At the time, I’m a shy college kid. I’m coming out of surgery and the anesthesia is wearing off. I say to my mom, “Mom, I didn’t tell the oral surgeon I thought he was cute, did I?” He is, of course, standing right there. At the time, I was mortified.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hahaha, I’m a blurter, so I might say something like that! Probably made your oral surgeon’s day!

It probably did! I was mortified at the time – now, though, I would probably do the same thing and think it was hilarious. Age and experience really make a world of experience!

Yes, I’m ready, though I want to reply some big plants and clean a little more. But the coordination with two surgeons took a little time. My sister is flying in on the 19th so I’m grateful for that and so much incredible support from friends like you and family! xo

So good that you have a good team (and gorgeous to look at never hurts 🙂 ) , and that you don’t have long to wait for the surgery . Glad those not so pleasant shots helped keep your legs free of clots and avoided you another intervention .
