A Memorial Day Visit…

20160529_094807

A visit to small town Welker Cemetery in Coffee County, TN where many of my husband’s family are buried.  So many veterans of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam era conflicts are buried here.  My father-in-law was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.

It’s a sad reminder that freedom isn’t free.  Sending out a huge thank you to the men and women who serve and have served our country.  We are forever grateful…

      1. The grace of a small town. Glad you got to go. Sounds lovely and a bit sad. We just got back from town. While there, we passed the cemetery. Oh my! It was so beautiful. I had to do a double take! Flowers were on nearly every stone…

      2. Yes, where I live there are a lot more restrictions but those little country cemeteries have flowers, even rose bushes planted!

      3. At my friend’s cemetery in Iowa, most of the stones have peony bushes. When they bloom, that place is stunning. At my other grandparent’s cemetery in Iowa, nearly ever stone lights the evening sky with solar birds or butterflies. Soooo pretty.
