Hair Update, Keratin Review…

Gentlemen, I won’t be offended if you just want to skip this post, it’s about my hair and more for the ladies.  But if you’re curious, feel free to read…

I don’t know if anyone remembers me talking about getting a keratin treatment on my hair, but the picture on the left is my highlighted hair that I would wash, blow dry and flat iron to look like that.  If I didn’t, it really would look like a lion’s mane 🙂

Picture on the right is same highlights but a little trim to get two hairdressers to agree on what looked the best after the treatment.  Right now it’s extremely flat and silky but they tell me it will be a little less flat in two weeks.  But after three days when I could wash it I just blew it dry, nothing else!  Keratin should last through about five or six cuts, so six to eight months.

I’m not sure if I really love it yet but it will be nice not to deal with heat and humidity and frizzy hair this summer.  But even with my length hair, process took three and a half hours, a pretty big time commitment, and they said it could take at least an hour longer for shoulder length hair.   Not to mention the cost 🙂

  1. Good for you!
I want to try it, but I’ll have to get an income going again before I do.
My hair is really fine, but I have a lot of it, and it curls and frizzes like crazy. With Houston humidity, I’m usually a frizzy mess by the end of the day.
    Thanks for the hair inspiration!

    1. It is so straight right now. Never felt my hair like this ever! Mine is thick and wavy and just swells and poufs, yuk! I’ll let you know how it is in a few weeks

    1. Thank you! When we were in Palm Springs my hair was great. I do need a desert or the treatment, I’m afraid! I know, the hair stuff is getting to me. Every once in awhile I threaten to let it go gray and frizzy, but I’m not sure I could take looking at it!

      1. It’s the in-between state that worries me, where you’re not all the way gray yet. Just in-between, which for me will mean part gray, part yellow. Oh dear!

      2. I don’t know for sure how gray I’d be. Mom, sis and I all started coloring our hair by 40 and I’m afraid to stop!

  4. Ohh, this looks really great! I wanted to do that, then I resolved in simply putting the hair up in a bun.. yeah.. if I go out with friends or hubby I try to apply some anti-frizz. sigh.. being a woman 😀

  7. It looks beautiful! I always had naturally straight hair which I hated when I was a teenager! But I love it now and feel lucky to have it.

    1. Thank you! Humidity is not my friend! And vacations at the beach, I’d hate my hair. So, if I only have to do it once a year or so…

      1. I say go for it! I couldn’t live without my honey caramel color that I pay too much for. Oh… I mean… totally natural… Uh… Uh… *runs out of room* 😀

  9. It looks very smooth and shiny Diane! I have one friend who gets it done every few months at a cost of $200!! She absolutely loves it though – so it must be worth every penny!! 🙂 🙂

    1. Thank you, Linda. Yep, mine cost $150 but longer hair is more. If I really like it, I may get it a couple times a year, but more than that is so pricey! The things we do for our hair 🙂

  10. Looks beautiful, Diane! I have fine, straight hair so I’ve never had this issue. Of course, as is typical, I hate what I have! As far as color- I am blonde for the foreseeable future! 😉

    1. Thanks, Meg! I think your hair looks cute in your picture. But true, we’d probably all choose something else. Is so unfair, guy get a little gray and they look great. Us, not so much!

  15. Hair, hair, female matters. I like the bob Diane and it’s a good thing that you are doing something that will take you through some months before the next treatment.

  17. Me remember me remember 😀 I think that was the post which we had a laugh over Monicas situation in friends and got to be “friends” in the blogosphere 🙂 Like I said that day you obviously look like a diva and about the cost, ummm no comments 😛 Atleast enjoy the feel good factor till it lasts 😉

    1. I knew you’d remember! I’m liking it so far, see how long it lasts. They said maybe do it just twice a year and cause my hair is not that long, it was $150. Not too bad, right? Longer hair more like$300. Sitting there for 3 1/2 hours was okay… Lisa who did the treatment brought up the Friends episode, too 🙂 When you’ve got the hair, you understand!

      1. Haha 😀 That episode was bound to come up! Hey that price is actually fine!! Advantages of short hair I suppose. Plus it will last for a while right?
I pity the longer hair ones :\ I had to pay double the amount once for colouring my hair because the length was just off the mark by a few inches! But the feeling when you walk out of the parlour is so awesome you don actually think about the price until you have your first hair wash at home ! 😛

      2. Yes! I didn’t think it was too bad, probably have to do it twice a year. When your hair looks good, life is just better, to right? 🙂
