#atozchallenge, C is for Cake…

cupcakes-chicago3

This would have been my boys’ idea of the best birthday cake ever!

After I was married and had my boys, I didn’t have my own birthday cake for a long time.  I mean, we had our three birthdays in four days. There’s only so much cake you can eat.  And when they were little, of course the boys wanted their own cakes on their own days.

Since my birthday is in the middle, I very graciously agreed to give up my day so we could celebrate on April 26th and April 29th with first Mickey Mouse and truck cakes, then He-Man and Ninja Turtle cakes, and later baseball, hockey, basketball, football, soccer, even bowling-themed cakes.  (We live near Chicago, so the pictured dream cake includes Bulls basketball, Bears football, Cubs baseball and Blackhawks hockey.  But we still would have needed two separate cakes 🙂 )

Then one year my dear neighbor, Evelyn, took pity on me and got me my very own little chocolate cake with flowers on it.  Pure bliss…

  1. That cake is outrageous! (In a good way!) You should have a “book” cake! My pregnant friend (one of the many….) had a book cake for her baby shower, it was awesome!

      3. I think that I liked their uni at first, then liked the team. I’m also a Lakers/Cardinals/Chargers fan. I’m all over the US in terms of sports teams.

    1. Thanks, Millie. I couldn’t do a cake like that to save my life. It was so fun that year, my neighbor is a sweetie! Thankfully the boys are older and we’ve moved away from sports cakes. And the older one is married, so it’s his wife’s problem now!

  12. I think this year you should have your own, super chocolate cake and ice cream and gifts and balloons and fireworks and music and dancing. I’ll be dancing here – you get to pick the music! Clare

  14. Cake has got to be one of my all-time favorite C words! And cake is healthy, right? It’s got a bunch of food groups in it. Chocolate is a food group.

Congrats on FINALLY getting your own cake. I hope it was all flowery goodness 🙂

I love your theme for the challenge. I wish I’d thought of something so original. I can’t wait to read more. BTW I revised my Egg post if you want to give it one more read. Less typos & more content 🙂
