JP is my three-year-old grandson. He and his mom and dad and their English bulldog lived with us while their new house was being built. One of the best things about having them here was spending time talking with him. It makes me hopeful for the next generation. He is so wise and so much fun!
It was so nice here a few days ago that I took JP to the park and we had a wonderful time. He swung and slid and climbed, which I know he missed from last summer. He wanted me to sit by him and swing, so I did, and it was a lot of fun. Even nanas miss the playground, I found! There’s something young and carefree about flying through the air and doing the kick and then the pump. Here’s our conversation:
JP: Nana, swing next to me on the big people swing.
Me: Okay, I think I will. (And I’m swinging!)
JP: Nana, I need you to push me.
Me: Well, in a minute. I need to stop before I jump off.
JP: Why, Nana?
Me: Remember when I hurt my knee? I don’t want to hurt it again jumping off the swing.
JP: Because you have old bones, Nana?
And, just like that, not so young and carefree anymore 🙂

You have to give it to JP to get you to wonder…and smile. 🙂

My daughter was 3 when she looked out the window and told me our tree was old. I looked out and realize she was talking about the white Birch tree. Too cute!

I’ve had therapy and now seeing the trainer, it’s so much better, but I didn’t want it to be this much work, lol! Also, years of working in the city and wearing those great shoes with high heels didn’t help 😦 but when you’re young, you don’t think about those things!

Oh, that’s adorable! I’m impressed that you could swing with him! When my kids were younger we’d take them to parks all the time and whenever I tried to swing with them, I got major motion sickness. When did that happen? I rode swings all the time as a kid! Thanks for sharing… very cute kid!

He’s a little doll. I don’t ever get to swing too long before I have to stop and push him, lol. He just hasn’t quite got the hang of it yet! I even go on the slides sometimes but no rock wall climbing for this nana

I asked my LM to give me a goodnight kiss once and he walked up, bent over, squinted and said ‘you have old lips’ and promptly got some Chapstick before he would kiss me. He’s a riot.

It’s a long story – his father (our son) is brain-injured and my fight is to eep my self healthy to help my son with his. If I get my act together soon, I’ll put my blog back and you can see the history.
Every now and then it kicks my butt.
