Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy,
powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an
embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to
live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t an option. Of course, the
last thing she does before boarding the plane is to grab a stranger’s phone by
mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the
line, but he doesn’t know her real name, or her famous pedigree—which is just
the way Clementine likes it.

Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to
realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at
his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town,
but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin
doesn’t want to let her go. The only problem? It turns out that Clemetine has
been lying to him about, well, everything. Except for the one thing two people
can’t fake, the only thing that matters: The heat between them is for real.

Call Me, MaybeCall Me, Maybe by Ellie CahillMy rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a sexy and smart book based on the improbable premise that two people sitting near each other at the airport could accidentally pick up each other’s phones and not discover the error until they land at their destinations. Then, instead of just overnighting the phones, they agree to relay messages to each other for a week until they both return home and can exchange the phones in person.

Beautiful but socially awkward heiress Clementine Daly ends up in California with writer Justin Mueller’s phone, while he’s in Florida with hers.  When Justin finds he has the wrong phone, he frantically calls and leaves messages until Clementine calls him back. They talk and have some wonderfully witty and increasingly intimate conversations while passing messages back and forth. Clementine is fascinated with his voice and picture and even the playlist on his phone and Justin feels the same about her.

But Clementine had a horrible experience naively sexting with a boyfriend when she was a teenager that brought embarrassment and even blackmail to her society family and she’s been lectured to about the dangers of oversharing. So she doesn’t tell Justin the truth about her name or how she can pay her rent or even what she does for a living — until it all blows up in her face and she’s left trying to explain…

I really liked this breezy and fun new adult book that has some interesting thoughts on our huge dependency on our cellphones and the possible dangers of social media. Although it’s a bit of a fairytale, the adorably awkward heroine, an almost too-good-to-be true hero and some really smart and witty dialogue made the whole book an enjoyable read for me.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

    1. Thanks, the publisher or tour company usually provides the graphics and links so I generally just have to do the review and arrange things. I’m really improving my computer skills lol

  2. Great sounding book and I try to make requisition slips out at library rather than purchase books. I downsized to a small apt. and have only limited space. Believe me, I learned to keep only a few and give donations to library if given yo me for gifts. I posted about this process which a few fellow bloggers were grateful to know you can go on local library websites to suggest purchases. Smiles, Robin

    1. I do it all the time. I hate to buy a book unless it’s one I really want to keep and reread.
