This is a sexy and smart book based on the improbable premise that two people sitting near each other at the airport could accidentally pick up each other’s phones and not discover the error until they land at their destinations. Then, instead of just overnighting the phones, they agree to relay messages to each other for a week until they both return home and can exchange the phones in person.

Beautiful but socially awkward heiress Clementine Daly ends up in California with writer Justin Mueller’s phone, while he’s in Florida with hers.  When Justin finds he has the wrong phone, he frantically calls and leaves messages until Clementine calls him back. They talk and have some wonderfully witty and increasingly intimate conversations while passing messages back and forth. Clementine is fascinated with his voice and picture and even the playlist on his phone and Justin feels the same about her.

But Clementine had a horrible experience naively sexting with a boyfriend when she was a teenager that brought embarrassment and even blackmail to her society family and she’s been lectured to about the dangers of oversharing. So she doesn’t tell Justin the truth about her name or how she can pay her rent or even what she does for a living — until it all blows up in her face and she’s left trying to explain…

I really liked this breezy and fun new adult book that has some interesting thoughts on our huge dependency on our cellphones and the possible dangers of social media. Although it’s a bit of a fairytale, the adorably awkward heroine, an almost too-good-to-be true hero and some really smart and witty dialogue made the whole book an enjoyable read for me.
