I’m sitting here in tears this morning because I just found out that Glenn Frey passed away yesterday. I know that sounds silly and it probably is, but The Eagles were a favorite part of my youth. I’ve loved this band since I was in college and was lucky enough to see them in concert a couple of times as I got older (and had saved up enough for tickets!)
They had that quintessential easy listening, harmonizing, soft California rock band sound and produced so many wonderful songs. I loved every one of them.
So here’s what I’m learning and linking to Jackie’s challenge:
Life is short. Don’t put things off too long…
Take chances. You’ll never know what could be if you don’t…
Live in the moment. Don’t waste time regretting the past or anticipating the future…
Give up trying to control everything. What will be, will be…
You can choose happiness or sadness. Life goes on around you whether you want it to or not…

I feel you pain. I was lucky enough to really know him personally !!! I was so sad when I heard of his passing. I was young when I met him and he was playing Take it Easy on a beautiful guitar. I told him that he had a nice guitar and then he started playing that song. I still didn’t know who he was and he looked at me and said, “The Eagles, Glenn Frey??” I said, “Yeah, I know the song but what about it??” And he replied, I’m Glenn !!” I was just shocked. I didn’t know what to say and he seemed to like that I thought he was just a good guitar player, playing one of the Eagles song 🙂
I know too well life is short. When I was 21 and a newlywed, I was in a very bad car accident. Coma, traumatic brain injury, paralyzed on my left side, hospitalized for 5 weeks. Yeah I was that person you always think that happens to someone else, not me. Yeah I’m that person.
All of those things you mention in your post, I learned everyone if those lessons in life. Got all of those t-shirts hanging in the closet. Very good lessons to learn and I am grateful to God for letting me learn them and surviving it all.
We can talk about all of them if you want, but that’s just one of the lessons I was fortunate to have learned. Life is too short to be anything but happy ❤ Blessings

You are so right! How cool that you met Glenn in person!! I’m not usually so emotional about celebrities, but The Eagles, they were my youth! I still exercise to their music and listen to it on my tablet on planes. I’m glad you’re doing so well physically now. We’ve had a lot of ups and downs over the years and as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized life just doesn’t happen to you, you can choose how you want to live! Wow, I’m so philosophical this morning, just totally bummed. Glad someone understands how I feel.

It sounded like he was really sick. He’s probably in a better place and it’s good that he is not suffering anymore. I believe in heaven and so I just have to belive he’s up there singing with the Angels…Blessings ❤

It’s only someone who has never lost someone that they loved would find your emotions out of place. It is very understandable and goes to show how transitory life is. Indeed these quotes are as vital as breathing.

I, too, was saddened when I hurt about his passing. My husband and I have had the pleasure of attending the Eagles concert and it was amazing. Great way to always spend a July 4th! I love love love their music and always will! Thanks for sharing!

I felt pretty bad about his passing, too. Hotel California was the first album I ever bought. I’m so sorry I never got to see them in concert. I love your checklist. Gotta start put putting some more of them into practice. Meanwhile “take it easy…” 😦

You, too! Glad the Eagles got back together and had the Hell Freezes Over tours. They still sounded good the last I saw them at Soldier Field several years ago…
