Aiden Shaughnessy is the oldest son in a large family and the most affected by his mother’s death back when he was a teenager. He runs a successful construction firm, but has put his personal life on hold because he just can’t seem to meet the right girl, the one his mom would have wanted for him. His oldest brother/control freak tendencies keep rearing their head and Aiden doesn’t seem able to develop a real relationship.
Then designer Zoe is given the task of fixing his model homes to his exact specifications, something the previous designer just couldn’t/wouldn’t do. And even though Aiden finds himself falling fast for the vibrant Zoe, and she for him, he’s still not sure he can let go of those controlling tendencies, i.e., forgetting a trip to the cemetery on the anniversary of his mom’s death sends him into a huge downward spiral. Thank goodness Zoe cares enough to find the wonderful person underneath the carefully controlled exterior!
This story is about learning to let go of the past and grow as a person and in a relationship and it’s obvious Aiden has a ways to go. There are some wonderfully sweet moments along with some sad ones and I’m looking forward to reading the siblings’ stories.
